The Seattle Center for Emotionally Focused Therapy is a community resource for mental health professionals seeking training and support in their work with individuals, couples, and families. We provide information on events and resources for citizens in Western Washington seeking growth and healing through the practice of Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT). EFT harnesses the power of emotion to transform relationships through the importance of attachment bonds. Recognized by the American Psychological Association as a “gold standard” approach to couple therapy, this empirically based practice offers individuals, partners, and families a time tested approach to healing and change. As an EFT center we value the essential role that attachment relationships play in promoting personal resilience, relationship success, and a thriving community.
Our Mission
Our mission at the Seattle Center for Emotionally Focused Therapy is to:
- Promote the learning and practice of EFT.
- Provide a professional community for EFT practitioners in Western Washington.
- Increase awareness and availability of EFT practitioners to the needs of families, couples, and individuals in the state of Washington.
Our History
The Seattle Community for EFT formed in 2010 under the leadership of EFT Supervisor Roy Hodgson LMFT, LMHC with the support of EFT Trainers Veronica Kallos-Lilly PhD and Yolanda von Hockauf RMFT from the Vancouver Couple and Family Institute in Vancouver British Columbia. Yolanda and Veronica led EFT externships and other trainings in conjunction with Samaritan Center of Puget Sound, while Roy organized monthly gatherings and year end celebrations. In 2016 the Seattle Center for EFT was formed when Roy Hodgson became an ICEEFT trainer. Together with EFT Trainer Jim Furrow PhD the Seattle Center provided EFT training for therapists in Seattle area and northwest. Sadly, Roy passed away in 2024 and his years of support and influence as a talented supervisor and gifted therapist continues to shape the community he founded. In 2025 the center was reformed as EFT Seattle continuing the legacy of growing EFT resources and community through the Pacific Northwest.
